Chronic Migraine Treatment in Hyderabad

Recurrent disabling headache, often one-sided and with nausea or light sensitivity, treated by reducing attack frequency rather than relieving each attack.

Also known as: Shaqiqa · Adha sir dard · Migraine headache

1. Symptoms you may notice

  • Throbbing pain on one side of the head, lasting hours to days
  • Nausea or vomiting, and an inability to tolerate light, sound or smells
  • Visual disturbance, flashing lights or a blind spot before the pain begins
  • Attacks triggered by missed meals, poor sleep, heat, the menstrual cycle or particular foods

2. How Unani medicine understands it

Unani medicine names one-sided headache Shaqiqa and treats it as a derangement affecting the vessels and the nervous faculty of the head, aggravated by digestive disturbance and by accumulated vapours rising from the stomach. The protocol therefore treats the head and the digestion together, and its measure of success is how many attacks you have in a month, not how fast one is aborted.

3. What treatment involves

  1. A headache diary from the first visit, to establish the real pattern and the real triggers
  2. Hijama at head and upper-back points to reduce attack frequency
  3. Nervine and cephalic formulations, with nasal and topical preparations where indicated
  4. Digestive correction and a sleep, meal and hydration routine — the three variables patients most often underestimate
  5. Review against the diary, with the protocol changed on the count rather than the impression

When to seek urgent care instead

These are not reasons to book an appointment. If any of them applies to you, go to a hospital or call emergency services now — our clinic is not the right place for them and delay causes harm.

  • The worst headache of your life, coming on within seconds — go to a hospital immediately
  • Headache with fever and a stiff neck, or with a new rash
  • Headache with weakness, slurred speech, drooping of the face, confusion, or a first-ever seizure
  • A new headache pattern after the age of 50, or one that is worse on coughing, straining or lying flat

Frequently Asked Questions

Can migraine be cured permanently?

Migraine is a long-term tendency, and treatment that claims to remove it for good is overpromising. What is realistically achievable is far fewer attacks, milder ones, and less dependence on painkillers — and for many patients that is the difference between losing four days a month and losing none. We measure it from your diary so that the improvement is a number you can see.

How does Hijama reduce migraine attacks?

Cupping at defined points on the head and upper back is used in Unani practice to relieve the congestion and vascular derangement associated with Shaqiqa, and patients typically report a fall in attack frequency over a course of sessions rather than instant relief during an attack. It is a preventive measure in this protocol, not a rescue treatment.

I take painkillers several times a week. Is that a problem?

It may be part of the problem. Frequent use of painkillers for headache can itself produce a persistent daily headache, and in that situation the first step is a planned, supervised reduction — which is temporarily uncomfortable and is why it should not be attempted alone. Bring the exact names and how often you take them.
